PureOlogy wins Best Shampoo category as chosen by stylists across North America, complementing its 2008 Brides Beauty Award for Best Shampoo by Brides Magazine.
Every year, stylists vote on their favourite professional hair care products as part of behindthebottle.com’s dedication to celebrating and developing the professional hair care industry. The CompetitionThis year, HydrateShampoo competed with Farouk Systems CHI Infra Shampoo, Joico K-PAK Shampoo, Redken All Soft Shampoo and Color Extend Shampoo ,which are all recognizable products with stylists and consumers alike. Last year’s winner, Paul Mitchell’s Super Skinny Shampoo, wasn’t even in the running. Best Known for What's Not in the Ingredients List This shampoo is sulfate- and salt-free for gentle cleaning. Salt will typically rough up the hair cuticle, which can result in colour fading. Hair is cleaned gently with coconut, corn and sugar derivatives that also help prevent colour loss. PureOlogy is a vegan line of professional hair care products, and uses only certified organic botanicals. Concentrated FormulaIts concentrated formula means a little goes a long way, which offsets the expense of this high-end product. “Use just a tiny bit for excellent results. Since using this product, my hair color has not faded one bit between colorings. I love it – and it lasts forever!” raves Della Street in an amazon.com review. “Although it seems like a lot for shampoo, this will probably last me a year!” Frances of amazon.com concludes. Depending on the size purchased, this shampoo can cost up to $50.00/litre. FragranceAmazon.com reviews are mixed about the fragrance. Reviewer Zuberdeen describes it as having “a minty sort of smell that I find natural and refreshing; although it is a bit strong at first, by the time I am finished styling the minty smell is gone and my hair just smells fresh & clean.” The “herbal and earthly and clean” scent described by another Amazon reviewer, A. Bippart ,is “much like Aveda shampoos.” This earthly trace may be what Eclectic Shopper refers to as smelling “funky.” The actual aroma is a combination of PureOlogy’s Signature AromaTherapy Blend of Ylang Ylang, Bergamot, Anise and Patchouli.
